East Midlands Regional Conference - 15/07/06

The Boston United Supporters Trust was represented by two acting officers at the Supporters Direct East Midlands Regional Conference, hosted at the Walkers Stadium, home of Leicester City today (15 July 2006).

The conference, hosted entirely free of charge by Leicester City FC, saw a number of notable figures in the Trust movement gather for a series of workshops and debates.

Opening the day were talks from guest speakers including Peter Jones, ex-Premiership referee, and Darren Bernstein, the customer relations manager for the Football League.

Walkers Stadium

David Whittle and Pete Brooksbank attended on behalf of BUFCST and took part in workshops on employment law, community interest companies, elections and AGMs and an interesting talk on Trust-run clubs hosted by Lee Carter, Anthony Goodwin (AFC Telford), Brian Burgess (Bees United chairman) and Paul Hajduk (Rushden and Diamonds Trust chair).

The closing plenary debate centered on clubs in the community and the Government's reponse to the Burns report, with guest speaker David Taylor, MP for North West Leicestershire.

The conference also hosted a number of stalls, including Printability 2000, who are responsible for printing the official voice of Boston United - the 'Pilgrims' programme - and the Supporters Direct magazine, along with displays from Football Supporters Federation and Fair Deal Trading.
