Acting officers reflect on conference - 20/05/06

The Boston United Supporters Trust (BUFCST) was represented by four acting officers at the Supporters Direct North West Regional Conference, held at Old Trafford, the home of Lancashire CCC, today.

The acting officers attended a number of workshops covering topics as varied as community interest companies, working with the media, insolvency and administration and mapping for communities. Acting officers also attended a session on holding elections and AGMs ahead of the BUFCST AGM later this year.

The Conference ended with a lively two-hour panel discussion on the role clubs can play in the community.

The Conference was well attended by numerous Trusts and Trust-owned clubs, including AFC Wimbledon, FC United of Manchester and AFC Telford. Guest speakers and panellists included Labour MP Tony Lloyd, 2005 Sports Journalist of the Year David Conn and the chief executive of Burnley, Dave Edmondson.

Reflecting on the day, BUFCST acting officer Adam Upsall said: “The regional conferences are a real festival of football knowledge. The chance to meet other Trusts and Supporters Direct representatives to share advice and best practice is invaluable, and we’ve learned an awful lot today.”
