MEETING GIVES GO-AHEAD FOR LAUNCH OF FANS’ TRUST - 28/11/05

A Supporter’s Trust to help secure a long-term future for Boston United is to be set up following a successful inaugural meeting at the Assembly Rooms in Boston last night (28 November).

At the meeting, attended by 65 local people, there was overwhelming approval to formally set up the not-for-profit trust.

The trust will now be eligible for funds from the publicly-funded organisation Supporters Direct, which was set up by the Government to help people who wish to play a responsible part in the life of their football club.

The meeting was chaired by the former chief executive of Boston Borough Council, Ron Coley.

The trust will be a democratic body open to all Pilgrims’ supporters to join at an affordable cost. It will join over 100 Supporters’ Trusts that are already in existence across the country, including such clubs as Lincoln City, Notts County, York City, and Chesterfield. The trusts currently have around 100,000 members between them.
